Healing Using God’s Support

for

ALL People LIVING with HIV/AIDS

Purpose: To provide all people living with HIV/AIDS, a relaxed, informal, and non-judgemental environment.  Where people will share their experiences, feelings, and work on their day-to-day problems, exploring issues that concern them and widen their circle of friends by using God’s Love to support and heal each other.

Topics:  Common experiences, treatment options, medical information, open discussions and other topics to be determined by the needs of the group.

Meeting format:  Open-ended discussion coordinated by a rotating facilitator with the option to change depending on the need of the group.

• Start of each meeting:  Each member will pick another member in the group of their choice, stand and look at each other in the eye for a period of 1-2 minutes in order to connect with that person.  They will then hug, and tell each other what ever God puts on their heart to say.  New members will be asked, “why did you come to the support group?”
• Late arriving member:  Will be greeted by a group member, hugged, and brought into join the meeting.
• End of  each meeting: each member will hug everyone in the meeting.
• Group Guidelines:  Confidentiality clause stated at the beginning of every meeting, “What is said in the room stays in the room.”  No physical violence or threats of physical violence will be tolerated.  Members will determine what they want out of the support group.  Phone list will be established for additional encouragement and support on a daily bases (if member desires)
• Professional relationship:  Counselor/therapist will be established as a resource for referrals, quest speaker, and technical information.

Every 1st and 3rd Thursday from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
